WHAT DOES OUR IT ACTUALLY DO?
IT keeps the ROY ROBSON system running. With a focus on systems technology and merchandise management, they ensure that employees can work smoothly and have the best digital tools at their fingertips, that the movement of goods flows without incident and that the entire company is always up to date.

THE RANGE OF TASKS
IS MULTI-LAYERED:
FROM FIRST-LEVEL-SUPPORT
THROUGH TO PLANNING THE IT INFRASTRUCTURE.
“For me, it’s a good day when I hear little from other colleagues in the company. If everything runs smoothly, we’ve done a good job and can focus on projects that will keep our infrastructure up to date in the long term.”

with Mirko
ABOUT THE PRIORITIZATION OF TASKS IN THE WORLD OF IT
Mirko has been part of ROY ROBSON since 2019. He is actually a trained car mechanic, but turned his hobby into a profession at the end of the 1990s. Today, he contributes his more than 25 years of professional experience to a wide variety of tasks and projects in the IT department.
What tasks do you take on in IT?
We are divided into two areas: Merchandise Management and Systems Engineering. I work in systems engineering. This ranges from first-level support to third-level support. So from “My Outlook won’t start” to planning the entire infrastructure. So it never gets boring and is very varied. Merchandise management, on the other hand, covers everything that happens on the ERP side, from incoming orders to delivery in logistics.
What is your overriding goal?
To put it bluntly, we want to keep the business running. We live in a time in which companies are heavily dependent on IT because all processes depend on it. Priority 1 is always the day-to-day business. It is important that all ROY ROBSON employees can work smoothly. Priority 2 is everything that goes beyond that. We keep the systems up to date, make updates and see where we need to replace and update hardware. We deal with questions such as: “Where do we need to go in terms of storage in the future?” or “Where do we need new software solutions?” We have a large TV in the office and our monitoring system runs on it, which is our centerpiece. The dashboard shows in real time whether hardware, software, services, websites and web stores are running.
What is your claim?
At the end of the day, we want to have satisfied colleagues who feel that IT is always available and can find a good solution to any problem. There are different requirements for each department, which we address.
What do you stand for as a team?
We always want to be open and approachable. There are always situations in which many things happen at the same time. If a system fails unexpectedly and suddenly colleagues can no longer work, it’s not easy to keep calm. But as a team, it’s important to us that we communicate well with each other and have a good working relationship. We spend so much time together. We always want to go to work with a smile on our faces.

ROY ROBSON TOP PICKS
Mirko has always liked to dress well. ROY ROBSON is the right place for him. He wears a lot of ROY ROBSONand the attractive employee discounts are of course a nice bonus. “I’m mainly a jeans and T-shirt wearer, not a suit person. I still run around outside in a T-shirt even when it’s -10 degrees.” Nevertheless, he now has a few merino sweaters in his wardrobe because he is a big fan of quality and comfort.
